The breakthrough Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) [1] system in the RX 400h employs several safety features to help control loss of traction during a turn or on a slippery road. When a series of sensors detects the potential for a loss of traction, the system uses a combination of individual-wheel braking, throttle activation and steering assistance to seamlessly correct the situation before a skid actually occurs, helping the driver keep the vehicle on track.
