The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) [1] in the RX includes front seat-mounted side airbags that provide a larger protection area than conventional side airbags. A driver’s dual-stage airbag deploys at one of three speeds, depending on things like crash severity and driver’s seat-track position. And the front passenger’s dual-stage airbag uses occupant weight and crash-severity sensors to monitor its deployment. Also included are front and rear roll-sensing side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
