GS Safety Features

Find the feature you are looking for in one comprehensive list.

Sensor at the top of the windshield can detect raindrops, and the wiper blades are activated at an appropriate speed.

To help improve visibility in rainy conditions, the GS comes equipped with water-repellent glass on the front side windows.

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist [1] helps reduce stopping time and improves control while braking.

The GS features three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters to help keep the driver and passengers secure.

With this theft-deterrent system, a rolling code immobilizes [2] the engine unless the proper key is detected.

To help others see your vehicle during daylight hours, the GS comes equipped with automatic daytime running lights.

A direct-type system alerts the driver when the tire pressure is critically low.

A range of advanced safety features that proactively work together to help enhance control during all driving maneuvers.

A sophisticated network of sensors and 10 airbags [3] help protect you and your passengers from certain types of frontal and side impacts.

With the available Lexus Link® [4], emergency and concierge services are available at the touch of a button.

To illuminate more of the road while cornering, the available Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) pivots the headlamps toward the turn.

When air pressure is lost, available run-flat tires [5] allow you to drive below 55 mph for approximately 100 miles.

This available system can detect when a frontal collision is imminent and take measures to help reduce impact damage.

A range of structural reinforcements, as well as front and rear crumple zones, helps protect you and your passengers.

[1]Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions. [2]The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. The key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key, your Lexus dealer can help, or you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high security key services at www.aloa.org. [3]All the airbag (“AB”) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further information/warnings. [4]An active Lexus Link® subscription (including a signed Lexus Link Service Subscription Agreement) is required in order to receive Lexus Link services. Lexus Link services require vehicle electrical system and wireless service to be available and operating for features to function properly. Lexus Link uses existing emergency service providers as well as wireless and satellite technologies. A one-year subscription to the Safety Plan is included with the purchase of a new vehicle. Other plans are available at an additional cost. [5]Run-flat tire technology is designed for limited emergency use only. If air pressure is lost, vehicle speed must remain below 55 mph; cornering, braking and accelerating must be done with extreme caution; and the tire should be replaced within 100 miles.
